That certainly isn't me! Either that model is very tiny or that's really, really broad gauge track.

Looks like a set-up for the photo shoot. Those tracks haven't been used in quite a while (rust over the rail head).

And those photos look too recent and she's a tad younger than me. A rather large tad. If that were me, the photos wouldn't be B&W but close...

Not only am I perv, but I am also a train nut, I actually work for a railroad. North American track gauge is 4' 9" or for our metric friends converts to 1448mm, so buy the photos I would put her at about, close to that or a bit shorter. That is, if the photo was taken in North America.

If that were me, the photos wouldn't be B&W but close...

Ooooo... I'm very close to someone who is a model railroader and a railfan - I've nicknamed him The Train Pervert (which he has taken to somewhat). He loves trains and railroad history (and talking about them... so I do pick up some knowledge tidbits, especially if they're the why-and-how kind).

So that's why I figured that the model in the photos must be quite diminutive if it was standard North American gauge. She must be at most 5 feet tall (about a foot shorter than me! My head and feet would be sticking out on both sides!).

You are correct, the Gage of American Rail Roads is approximately 5'
from rail to rail.he way she is laying the gage looks like Australian broad gage witch is
about 5'6" by the way, it has been discontinued some time ago, thats why the rails are
so rusty.
A Train can come anytime, so why would one be tied to some tracks if there was
any chance a train might come along.

Oh, I remember that one! I'm still pissed at the lousy ropework used for that one. That's why I'm yelling in the photo.

The handlebar moustache is a must for any dastardly villain! A top hat would have been better but I remember that none was available, so the bowler was pressed into service.

The piano soundtrack was a nice touch. Good thing someone brought the boom box.

Well, the DevianArt profile of the photographer says he's in the UK. Which would make it standard gauge - 4' 8.5" (1,435mm). Of course, he could have been somewhere else; the captions on the pics don't say, just that it is siding used about once a week, which explains the thin rust on the rails but otherwise well maintained track bed. The other pics in the set(s) (also see) show plausibly English countryside, but could be elsewhere.

The exact gauge is open to debate but one thing's for sure, like ruru said- that siding or spur is occasionally used. So if anyone is thinking of shooting a similar scenario, they'd better make sure they know the train schedule!

Brunel originally built the Great Western Railway from Paddington in London to a 7' gauge but it was converted to standard gauge later. I think the only remaining 7' gauge tracks in existence are in museums at Didcot and maybe York.
The Irish use 5' 3" and some other countries use non standard gauge.
