My materials store is in the process of being remodeled so that the store was only 1/20 the size of the normal space.
I wanted to buy another sturdy ratchet and use it the same day. Unfortunately, they only had the most commonly purchased items in the store.
Not even ropes were to be found.

That happened at a store in a town near me. They reduced space, stock and staff by 50% to boost profits. It worked so well that now they've reduced 100% and closed down.

Had a few stores like that here too. Far fewer items on stock and "if they didn't have it they could order it in for you".. Ok, so why would I do that and have to make 2 trips to the store when I could just order online and have it just as fast. If I come to a store I want a reasonable assortment of items to just be there. If I come to a store and too often don't find what I need, I stop going to that store.
