Thinking about the girls who are starting in this (and well, also about us who already have a little more practice) I wrote a little compilation with some tips to learn to walk in heels for the first time. I hope it is useful.

A very good primer for heels! 8)

The simplest rule is to choose heels that fit your foot length. Small feet won't take skyscraper heels, while longer feet can take higher heels.

I can go all day in 4-inch heels. I can manage 5-inch heels for almost that long (a day at the office, for example, where I'm off my feet for most of that time - but fun because with those heels I'm taller than everyone!).

Six-inch heels are out unless they have platforms (none of mine have a significant platform) - they're approaching the maximum limit of the heel-to-ball distance of my foot. The closer the heel height is to that distance, the sharper the angle and the more uncomfortable the footwear.

Keep up the good work!

Jenny.

Thank you Jenny. I've never tried heels higher than 5" but I think I'll have no problem with them because when I wear heels, for some strange reason, I always end up bound and gagged, so I never have many opportunities to walk much in them. :D

So, if standing on 6 inch heels with straight legs, I can still flex my ankles and raise and click my heel stalks on on the floor, I am good to go? I am surprised no one has mentioned the point where the heel stalk connects to the sole. My 6.5 inch Elle pumps seem to place that fulcrum further forward, possibly giving more than a 6.5 inch lift.

Only the 130° should be 103°and this is the angle between the floor and the instep. See the math from homemade heels: 180° - atan(4.1 / 1) = 102.8°.

You're more of a provider of heels, and I am more of a consumer. It's good that you noticed that.

I'm going to become a specialist of heels with the information I get from BoundAnna.

Too much math. I just want to be happy wearing my high heels and complain later because my feet hurt...and repeat the cycle the next day

You got that nailed, baby. 8)

The fun one gets from wearing them far outweighs any pain. Sky-high stilettos, sheer black stockings with the seam up the back, and a skirt just short enough to attract attention and just long enough to mean business. And a wasp-waist as the cherry on the sundae.

Example of fun: the shortest guy at the office is just about boob-level with his face. Fun when a run-in happens. Red face, proliferation of apologies, and an obvious conflict going on in his brain...

This is about where one would damn the torpedoes... it's way too much fun.

Jenny.

For the first time in my life I wish I was shorter .... and worked in Jenny's office.

Oooo... that's the latest in Borg fashions. Right after the Seven-Of-Nine models.

I sense a wicked thread hijack in the making...
