I'm back!

The new computer is here! I had to finagle the bios settings after installing my old hard drives (it thought it had to boot from the old ones, not the new SATA drive), and fight with the Connection Wizard to create my internet connection, but it's worth it.

Now I'm going to install my software and get computing (instead of kaputing).

enjoy your new toy, jenny.

it will be a whole different dimension, with that one you can convert
internet-videos files to dvd in the background, work with your apps & still surf
@ the same time without noticing any lag.

have fun.

You're not kidding.

I installed a 3D astronomy program (Celestia) that is very CPU-intensive, and it used less than 50% of one of the two cores!!!

On my P3, I had to minimize it to use anything else decently. :(

I'm still in the installation process... It will take a while before I'm completely up and running again. There are a lot of things on my old OS drives that I want to recover (like the fiction I posted here and other goodies  ).

I feel like a little kid again! :D

Jenny, you'd really be jealous about my computer. It cost me $3xxx to build. :P

The "emergency" computer I was using in the meantime, a Pentium 133 I bought back in 1997, cost me that much!

It was "big" at the time, with 32 MB of memory, a high-end motherboard, a 3.2 GB hard drive, sound card, ATI graphics, the works. I upgraded in the next few years, adding another 32 MB of memory (wow!), a second 3.2 GB hard drive (then a 1.2 GB)...

The one that died cost me $1200 in 2002, and I added a lot of stuff afterwards (hard disks, memory, Ultra ATA controller card, etc.).

Fortunately, it was only the motherboard that died, so I can reuse the drives and some of the cards (not all, since I have sound, network and graphics on-board, freeing up PCI slots). I've recovered about 75% of what I had up to now. The rest will probably get installed as needed. And I have CDs strewn around all over the place!

Thats why I bought an external Harddrive. You just have to love those things. Very useful.

It'll all be tidied up and stored when I'm finished.

As promised in an earlier post, now that I have my new computer up and running at about 90%, here's a picture of my very first corset, which is also the first corset I made myself, way back in 1999 (June 20th, to be exact):

Image

I mentioned that I would put it on my dress form, but the form is too small! Even with the adjustments set to maximum, the corset doesn't fit! I bought it recently, after I lost a considerable amount of excess weight. No, it won't fit me either, anymore.

I made the pattern from the web site I referred to in the earlier post, but at that time it was a manual process. Now it's automated, one just enters the required measurements, and click the button.

Update:

I managed to restore *most* of the images relevant to the construction of the correction corset with ones directly uploaded to the forum (curse that imageshack... ).

Just for fun, the computer I bought back in 2008 is still up and running (and assisting me in my perversion) - at this very moment! :D
