Release devices: "RoomBa"
Here is an idea I came up with watching a sister's roomba...
If it is new to you, it is a small 'robot' device that cleans your carpets and floors...
It moves around cleaning, and if it hits something, it will back up a bit, turn and go again...
Anyway...
First, secure you release key to the roomba, and send it on its way...
secure yourself on the floor where you are 'somewhat' mobile... IE: hog tie...
A blindfold will help to keep you in suspence so that you don't know exactly where it is, but it is a bit noisy, so you can always
hear where it is...
Now, the thing will run into you several times, the question is: can you catch it when it is in range to get your key before it takes off again???
And now a bit of warning, it can get stuck, and make sure it does not run out of juice before you get your key...
And if there was a way to launch it later, your "play time" could be longer...
Also, if you can get several, have diferent one carry diferent release keys...

All advice is checked, re-checked and verified to be questionable...

Wow, the lawn mower version...
OK, here you go...
Start the mower..
You tied spread eagle in your back yard...
Your release is when the mower runs over and cuts your ropes...
(Just hope it doesn't run over you and cut you up...)
OK, so not the best release version...

Re: Release devices: "RoomBa"
On my lawn it might take several hours to find a rope. Than will it cut the rope? Or will it turn upon hitting the rope and go off on its' merry way? Either way I will stick to my home made ice locks
I may be crazy, But I'm not insane
Re: Release devices: "RoomBa"
lol dont drag the key on a string behind the roomba. if someone comes back with a "my roomba backed up and sucked the key up inside it" story i will not even try to not burst out laughing

Re: Release devices: "RoomBa"
so as i thought about it the past day or so, these are my tips for saftey when robots are involved.
1) dont drag the key on a string, make sure its firmly on top.
2) if tied spread out, make sure it cannot run over your fingers or toes.
also a cool idea would be to stick a video camera on the robot so it can record you from many angles while its cleaning your floor lol.
also be sure to have a verbal self destruct command incase it becomes self aware.

Or run over other dangling bits...solostill wrote: if tied spread out, make sure it cannot run over your fingers or toes.
And on the subject of dangling bits, don't forget about the eventuality that it might want to reproduce... if your vacuum cleaner stops ogling the dishwasher and starts giving you the eye... look out!

Re: Release devices: "RoomBa"
Cool idea. I need to try this I have one where I can even set the time when it starts, so I can be in bondage for a while before it delivers the key. I would probably use a backup release, such that when somecubes ice melts the key will drop. Just use enough ice so it will take a very long time for it to melt.

There is one requirement on this board....
If you follow a suquestion from here, you must write about your adventure...
(OK, so that doesn't really exist, but you can tell us anyway... )

Re: Release devices: "RoomBa"
Newer roomba models can be programmed to start cleaning at a specific time...
Re: Release devices: "RoomBa"
Hmmm, maybe tie one to your nipple clamps?
Re: Release devices: "RoomBa"
Received today and couldn't resist posting here:
Instruction: activate the black button with your foot, it clears everything in a radius of 50 meters (164 ft). This type can give a bit more noise than the newer models.
Oh it doesn't matter, she said, as long as everything gets cleaned properly.
If only I had a mother-in-law.
