Opaque contact lenses?

I would like to figure out a way to turn my disposable contact lenses opaque after I'm done using them. Since I have to throw them away anyway, I figured they could make a great blindfold in various situations. I've tried reading up on it but most Google results return contact lense retailers that sell the opaque decoration lenses that still let you see. I've heard that food coloring creates a lot of eye irritation and only tints the contact lenses rather than block vision completely. If anybody has any suggestions, please post.

I wouldn't suggest trying to alter something that you will be using in direct contact with the eye..

Never put anything in your eye that is not specifically made to go there.

Disposable contact lenses are to be discarded because they accumulate matter from your eyes (tears, dead cells, dirt, etc) and that could cause an infection as it decays.

Any substance that is not specifically designed for use in or on the eyes should never be used there. Infections, inflammations, and even damage can occur. You could end up permanently "blindfolded".

Don't take any chances with your eyes. They are the only ones you have. There are no spares, replacements, or artificial substitutes.

I saw something like this in a video before, I think you might be able to buy ones that do that.

Don't make DIY ones if you value your eyes...

How would you get opaque lenses out of your eyes again? I have no experience with contact lenses as the idea of putting something into my eyes is not exactly relaxing for me, but don´t you have to see them to get them out again? Taking contact lenses out while blind seems like a bad idea, because to me that sounds like uncontrollably reaching into your eyes with only pain to alarm you if you are in the wrong spot.

Agreed.

I think using them could be ok if you are with someone but defiantly not in SB.

I can actually remove contact lenses without a mirror, and I've been wearing them for...about 5 years now. So that isn't always an issue with everyone. One of my friends could even poke her eyes with her finger without any pain or flinching which...still grosses me out to heck.

However like said before DO NOT color old lenses! I was at an anime convention this weekend, did you know they sell contacts there? Like the interesting ones with cat eyes and suchlike. You have to order them away and need your eye doctors information first, but...oddly, that would be the place to look.

Also, not everyone can wear lenses or colored lenses. My eyes are an average shape, so I can wear regular, colored, and moister lenses. I would assume fully black/dark ones would be completely hard, in comparison to soft lenses and cause more discomfort. If you eyes aren't the same shape as the brand the lenses come in, there will be more discomfort. You'll feel it in there...ew.

Contact lenses are not easy, I think theres alot of little fine details that you don't see when they check your eyes at the doctor, such as measuring the shape/size of your eyes, how well your eyes create tears, shape of the iris when dialated...etc. Maybe you should ask a professional, or look for a company first before making any decisions like that.

I've been wearing contact lenses for yeasrs now...and my mum is an optition.

Eyes need to be measured and lens fitted properly before you go using them.

You should never try to modify the lenses at all.

Also if you've never worn lenses before and you try them out you will find that there are uncomfortable after extended use. That is why they start you at about 4 hours aday and work up in about a week to full time.

Also if you don't produce enough tears then you will not be able to wear lenses either, or for that if you drasticly over produce them too.

I am lucky in that i wear can wear them from when i get up oo when i go tobed with out irritation or dryness, you may find that as you tire the lenses begin to dry out.

I just stumbled across a video by insex.com where a slave is wearing opaque contact lenses... I have not seen it yet, but I hope they show how they got the lenses out again. If they do, I will keep you updated.

There are a few websites that sell opaque contact lenses. They cost about $250 though. I realize that altering the contact lenses with chemicals can be extremely dangerous. I have extremely poor vision, poor enough that I can make myself essentially blind just by taking them out. As far as getting opaque lenses out, I can take my lenses in and out in complete darkness, having worn them for the last decade. I was hoping for a good solution for my girlfriend, who also wears contacts, but does not have as bad vision as myself. I was thinking I could blindfold her by having her put in some of my lenses.

Why 250 when this site sells them at about 35? I don't know if it's for each lens or for a pair, but either way it's less than half of what you said. Either way it's too rich for my blood.
I must also say that I have no idea as for the credibility of the site, and that personally I'd prefer a lens with an eye painted on the outside, but according to what you said this place is pretty cheap so I can't really complain about them...

I would only be worried about what I said in my previous post and others commented as well - Most people have different eye shapes, although I don't happen to know how many there are, the sizes etc.

One of my good friends has her left lense special ordered because its funky like that.
