I received a sales email with these on offer recently from a builders firm. An inflatable bag, about 6" square. inflates upto 2" thick and can take 100kg.

I'm thinking of "water wings", those inflatable things you put on your arms as a flotation device. Find a way to inflate them and a controlled deflate system might allow you to use them in a set of solid stocks by slipping wrists and/or ankles through, inflate, and wait. A sharp object could serve as an emergency release.

If you buy some of them and then place them on the corners, you might be able to do something in this manner.
