Silly Question

Post by Amy_Tenchi »

I know traditional cross dressing is when a male, dresses as a female (ooh, i sounded a bit smart there :) ) But is there such thing as a female cross-dressing to be a man?

I could assume that getting caught may not be as embarrassing...and in some aspects could be easier.

My friend Melissa looks like a man, but that doesn't really count either... Just pondering this for awhile...

The issue here is that there is no "exclusively" male clothing - pants, shirts, etc. look the same on a woman as on a man. One cannot say the same about skirts, frilly blouses, etc. on a man (with the possible exception of kilts and fashions during the Renaissance). These are obvious, "designated" female clothes.

Then there is also the anatomical aspect. Some women may get away with looking male in male clothing, others would have a hard time concealing the curves...

And the social aspect that a woman wearing masculine clothing is accepted by the mainstream. The reverse is not, by far.

Yes...kind of funny how society works like that... This is true, I can't think of any 'male only' clothes...

You can crossdress, it's just not called that, because of how socially acceptable it is.

I think the equivalent of a male going out in drag is a female going out dress like a "slut", that is, not wearing much at all.

It's about as outrageous as you can get as a female.

I would not call that clothing. There are several things I can think of that I can call that, but they are not very polite.
