Thought I'd share....

Bettie Page is the earliest memory of high heels, hoses, and garters I remember. I don't know why, but when I see her all tied up and dressed up, I just feel a rush. And then I want to do the same to myself... maybe that's why I have had to hide ropes, gags, heels, hoses and a garter belts most of my life! LOL!

Ah yes! :D

Bettie Page is THE Grande Dame of fetish and bondage, and she did it with style and taste (a rare commodity). She turned it into an art. I suppose that's why I like her and even look up to her.

You have excellent taste, sb_slave. Keep it up!

That the problem with fame and fortune... either it goes to the head or it is squandered on frivolous and/or injurious things.

But she has left us with an incredible artistic legacy.

Unfortunately for trailblazers like Bettie, it was the notoriety and also the congressional hearings into porn that made her retire from modeling.

...and her newfound christianity. according to the book "the real bettie page"
her later years featured a lot of mental instability.

besides, keeping out of the headlines in later years make sure you are remembered as is during your career. much like sally roberts has done.

I was going to be a smart ass and make a connection between her newfound Christianity and her later mental instability... but having grown up Catholic I'm still rather fond of the concept, just not so much the conceptualizers...

I too was raised Catholic and survived 6 years of parochial school. My exwife once joked that Mary Magdalene was the pseudo Patron Saint of prostitutes. That concept resonates to this subject in so much as I now personally regard Bettie Page as the Patron Saint of Bondage. For better or worse, SHE is a major (if not THE) reason I am the kinky person who I am today. If I were a Pagan, SHE would be the Goddess I choose to worship. God Love Her, Keep Her, and Bless Our Beloved Bettie.
Please remember for us, there are NO ropes, chains, ball gags etc. . . . in HELL  now that is truly a horrible thought.
