OK TieMeTighter what kind of ceiling covering do you have? I have most commonly worked a recess into many a ceiling with drop cables attached to the "Toy/Equipment" to be hidden. Pin hole lock stays can also be the answer for securing it to the floor once dropped.

my ceiling's just painted plaster over concrete.

You could use concrete screws or bolts at your local hardware store. However, you need a hammer drill which can be rented cheap. If you want i can talk you through it, im a carpenter/installer... let me know tiemetighter.

no need, the pics Anna's now kindly included for me in my last post of the handcuffs suspended from a chain are actually from a rawlbolt in my ceiling, yes mounted using a 10mm bit in a hammer drill.

My problem lies in wanting floor securing points, but having wall to wall fitted carpets.
