Re: Suspension
I have done, and occasionally still do, self suspension bondage but as you've already said you have to be very cautious and safety is paramount as it's probably the most dangerous form of self bondage.
As with most things test it, test it, then test it again before committing yourself.
Enjoy yourself and play safe.

Happily married (but always ready to flirt), wife not into anything kinky so it's self-bondage when I can.

There's a reason high-wire walkers use a net. Even then they can control how they fall. If you're tied up, you can't do that, increasing the chances of serious injury (the head comes to mind). If this happens when you're alone, your goose may be quite well cooked, as you may not be found until some hours or even days after you fall. That's far from worth the momentary hormone rush.
Don't do it unless there's someone nearby to help immediately.

Re: Suspension
Sometimes I think that some members of Bound Anna go overboard with safety.
I have not done self-suspension and intend to never try.
This is not one of those times. Be risk aware and avoid instant death.bound_jenny wrote:Not me. Why?john744556 wrote:Has anyone else ever been involved in self suspension ?

Re: Suspension
The other real danger of suspension bondage is the pressure that can be unevenly distributed as you are hanging. Too much in some area may restrict blood flow and if you are not freed or found for hours in that condition, you may lose limbs in the process.
Bondage is like a foreign film without subtitles. Only through sharing and practice can we hope to understand.
A Jedi uses bondage for knowledge and defense, never for attack.

Re: Suspension
Just to note... "suspension" covers a very wide range of possible play. In terms of safety, that can range from something like a sit sling on a chain hoist to Shibari suspension. If the subject is off the ground supported from above, that's suspension. I don't personally consider that entire range to be of elevated danger.

Shibari suspension (from just holding a leg in the air to head down ):

But even the safest form can be dangerous if you do not know what you are doing and if you have sufficient knowledge: is the connection to the ceiling strong enough, is it always checked for strength, metal fatigue in connections, blood and nerves vessels, ...
I only dream about it, that is more than enough for me.

Re: Suspension
The Shibari version is quite interesting, to say the least.
But in every case I have experienced that, it was always under the watchful eye of a skilled (and trusted by me) Shibari Master. Only such a person can make it safe, beautiful, and intense all at the same time, while keeping watch over me as I enjoy the experience. There is no way I'll do any kind of suspension solo.
It's always much more enjoyable with someone skilled and attentive to do it to me.
Jenny.

Re: Suspension
Yes, this is certainly true. I guess I would say that the factors that generate increased risk for full suspension bondage are not always more substantial when playing alone. Tying oneself to a SKY Chair is full suspension self-bondage. It has the same suspension-related risks as sitting in a SKY Chair. It has the same self-bondage related risks as tying oneself to a bed. Likewise, there are definitely types of suspension that feature substantial increases in risk when playing solo specifically from the combination of suspension with self-bondage.kinbaku wrote:But even the safest form can be dangerous if you do not know what you are doing and if you have sufficient knowledge: is the connection to the ceiling strong enough, is it always checked for strength, metal fatigue in connections, blood and nerves vessels, ...
