Your point is well taken, at least by me. But it could make this forum exhausting, like the only other forum I have an account with. (It's not BDSM)
Whenever someone reacts to a post of mine there, I get an alert. Some people may be offended by not returning the gesture somehow.
If there was a way to react without posting, and the poster wouldn't be bothered with alerts all the time, then maybe it could work. No one would be insulted if their reaction is ignored because the poster has no way to know without having to check back.

The good thing about the forum is it encourages discussion, not mindless "reactions". If you agree with something, contribute a proper statement, if you disagree or want to propose an alternative, please do so.

I don't need lots of "likes" to show how wonderful, insightful, clever I am, for me it's not a popularity contest and I certainly don't want my life filled with alerts from people whose sole contribution is an emoji!

I totally agree. From my point of view, writing may take a little longer but is more rewarding than a lonely "like"...although as to tastes and colors, much has yet to be said

It's much more gratifying, at least for me, to take the time to compose something concrete, coherent, than to just click on a Like button. OK, we have emojis, but for me that's the the missing part of the sentence that we would normally get face to face. But what do you want... I'm old school.
