Are you sure? That sounds exactly like what a bot would say.
The oldest thread resurrected so far, AFAIK, is my intro thread from eleven years ago. There was a lot of dust on that one.

Surrounded by bots:

Who is online

In total there are 14 users online :: 3 registered, 0 hidden and 11 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)
Most users ever online was 140 on Mon Sep 22, 2014 2:16 pm

Registered users: Alexa [Bot], Bing [Bot], Google [Bot], Shannon SteelSlave, Yandex [Bot}

That doesn't make me one of them, does it?
Was there a robot uprising on September 22, 2014? Did we win? Or are we all bots and don't know it?

Was that Alexa on here? I thought Brian Griffin on "Family Guy" having a relationship was funny. Kind of stereotypical though, saying that all a woman does is spend a man's money.

Saw Exabot one time. Googled that one, and saw that it can steal financial info? Should we be worried about this? Are they using our forum habits and reading our posts to find out when we are tied, so they can come and rob us?

How can Yandex view profiles? I thought only registered members could

I see you have been studying what they do when they visit BA forums. It can not view profiles but it tries. The bots follow all links and tries to index them, including your profile link. It just gets a login prompt instead of your profile. Studying what visitors are doing is a very good way to spot bots even if they are not identifying themselves as bots. (Caution though, "normal" human visitors might click on profile links as well.)

Do note that a bot that has somehow registered an account and managed to login will get access to your profile just as any other member. Never put information in your profile, or anywhere else, that you are not comfortable with sharing with the whole world.

Just keep a handy paradox ready and you'll be fine.

The following statement is true: "This statement is false".

That'll keep em distracted :)

That is a great idea, G. And now, the robits know it too. The imperial probe droid that was here last year caused quite a mess. You guys didn't even hit it that hard; it must have had a self destruct mechanism. Anyway, it's a sure bet the Empire knows we're here. So that's one way to kill one droid.
Water bucket can stop them from coming through the computer, that's a preventative, prophylactic technique. I would wait until they start coming through, but then you have to deal with the T-1000s your 3d printer have already conjured up. I may keep my computer over a boiling lake of lava so that 1st step will be their last.
It's a good thing I am learning their language. At the rate we're going, we could all be speaking droid in a few years.....

That's the Kirk Paradox Defense. It was used with the Nomad probe, Landru, and the androids of Mudd's World. Usually with lots of sparks and flames, but occasionally the machines just go dormant.

And when all else fails, full phasers or a couple of dozen photon torpedoes will do the trick. 8)

I wonder if that would work with the Cybortech computer on 8J0.

The "Liar Paradox", as used in Dr Who and The Green Death part 5(Pertwee):

"If I were to tell you that the next thing I say will be true, but that the last thing I said was a lie, would you believe me?"

I'd check your resume and see if "politician" is included.

Or just give you the stink-eye... :?

:) :D    Yeah, that's right, I'm laughing alone, which I guess makes me an idiot. (Thinking of "Futurama", of course)
Then again, in an alternate, unproduced ending to "Terminator 2", John Connor became a politician.
