Who is Hidden ?

Just a thought, I spotted this on the bottom of the main forum page...

In total there are 13 users online :: 1 registered, 1 hidden and 11 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)

Who is hidden ??? A bot?

Just a point of curiosity

Users may opt to conceal their on-line status by setting an option in their user profile. Personally, I don't think it's a really useful feature, but... whatever floats somebody's goat.

Bots are visible, though.

Wouldn't announcing themselves as hidden defeat the purpose of logging in as hidden in the first place? :P

Although overall I agree with Jenny.

... Hey, I'm here, but you don't know who I am...
Isn't that kinda like:
Lawyer: "Ms. Smith, did you shoot Mr. Jones?"
3 choices:
#1:
Ms Smith: "No."
(Did not shoot him or is lying...)
#2
Ms. Smith: "Yes."
(Did shoot him...)
#3
Ms. Smith: "I plead the fifth..."
(I did, I can't lie under oath, but you can't make me say I did...)

So, why do we even have that law in place???

@Dark Lizerd: in your scenario, you wouldn't even know Ms Smith's name, and she would be inside a frosted glass booth. You would only hear her voice. But her name would appear in the court records along with her testimony.

That's the "hidden" feature: the hidden user's nick won't appear in the list at the bottom, so you can't know when he or she is logged in at this particular moment. But it will appear in all his or her posts, along with the date and time of the post. Any determined snoop can figure out that user's history with a bit of simple detective work. One analogy would be to rob a bank, with one's face covered by a balaclava, but omitting to wear gloves and leaving fingerprints all over the place. Not that I want to judge - it's just an illustrative analogy.

BTW - I see the hidden ones anyway (comes with the bold green typeface of my user name  ).

Jenny.

Bound Jenny sees everything and her whip reach everywhere. You can not run and you can not hide.

(sound of box being neatly carved into two pieces by an expert crack of a whip) :whip:

"Gotcha!" says the Mistress from atop her gleaming metal stiletto heels, her corset creaking slightly, as the tinfoil hat falls away from the slave's head in two halves.

To the hidden users: Anyone who prefers to keep her or his status hidden is naturally welcome to do so. It is your choice and there might be a good reason for it. As long as you realize that you are not hiding from everyone and that you are still leaving traces like the rest of us.

I know who is hidden. The force allows me to see you. If I cared, I would do something to draw you out. You can keep hiding from everyone else. I can't even say the 1st letter though, too much of a giveaway. Nah, your "secret" is safe with me. Keep up the good work.
There aren't actually any hidden bots, are there? I don't see them. I don't want to. My force has ADD.

We tend to forget that Muggles(No-Maj's) can't use the Revelio spell to reveal such things, but we just let you get on with life.

Final Fantasy, right? I am feeling really paranoid right now, and hope I don't have something else to fear out there. Just saw Terminator 2015 and that is what kick started my bot fear again.

Or perhaps it's 'Ready Player One' that proves it is not paranoia 'They 'really are out to get you.
