I thought I read somewhere (Monitor resolution pole) that there was some thought of hosting pictures on site. Since I haven't heard anything I assume that's still not the case?

The new forum offers you the possibility to attach images to your posts. Click on upload attachment just under the posting window.

There are some limitations in file types and file size. But keep to the normal image formats and below 256 Kb and you should be okay.
Also note that you can only upload your own work. No stolen or "borrowed" material.
