hy guys & gals,

anna plans to add image-hosting to this server.

right now the image-size is restricted to 600 px width for full 800 x 600
screen resolution without messing up the boards tables.

so please vote all, so we can get a feeling for
the right image size.

thanx to all who participate.
*and please do not vote more than once to not screw up the results*

I chose 1024 X 768 which is the limit of my cheaper flat screen monitor. I would love to go to 1280 X 1024, and probably could if I had to.

I am ok with whatever the result might be, I am running two screens with 1280x1024 and 1920x1200px.
I think 800x600 is perfect if you want to be on the safe side, even the oldest computers and the smallest Laptops should be able to display that. Of course there is always the Iphone and Blackberry users ^^ but as Confucius used to say: You can't always get what you want... wait, was that him?

I suppose that the 16:9 (wide) formats were left out. If all screen formats were listed, the poll list length would probably exceed the page length of the forum!

I suggest that those of you with the wide formats select the screen resolution that most closely matches your screen width in pixels, i.e. those of you in 1280x800 select 1280x1024.

I run 1280x1024 for seven years now. The 17" LCD monitor I bought back in '02 has given me a pretty good ROI.

Jenny.

I am on my desktop now at 1600x1200 but I generally use the laptop at 1024x768. (I picked 1024x768 in the poll) Thanks for keeping us in the loop... :)

i'm running it at 1280x800 most the time...but i do have a dual screen and for programming and image editing i run 3 screens (although not on the laptop it's can't handle that)

why do i have 3 screens....cos i don't have enough room for 6!

i tend to use alot hight resolution screen for video and image editing...but my normal usage is 1280x800

Count me in for 1280*800 (as I am a member of the laptop-fraction).

Best regards,

I need to clarify that this question is mostly related with the maximum image size allowed in the forum. The image width limit is currently 600 pixels to make sure that the page layout work good in 600*800 or greater screens. The question now is if we should increase the maximum image width to atleast 800 pixels. This might break some of the layout on screens smaller than 1024 width. (Broken layout could result in the need to scroll the page sideways in order to read some of the posts.)

Image hosting for the forum is on the wish list but no such feature is in the works at this time.

i reakon you should do that. The majority have 800 or over by the looks of it. Surly a few people having to scroll isn't too bad (sorry if i'm assuming here)

So far no one has voted 800x600 or lower, so I don't think that there will be a problem in increasing the width limit to 800 pixels.

Large monitors are rather inexpensive nowadays, and even laptops have increasingly higher resolutions. That seems to be reflected in the votes so far.

Jenny.
