I started watching one of the "Shades" movies and soon dozed off. A combination of terrible acting, a banal script, and a boring story line. I woke up to see her get spanked and then off to dreamland again. Did I miss anything?

In my opinion, nothing at all. It's a terrible story and a very bad interpretation of dom/sub relations (basically it's a purely abusive relation) imho.

I am inherently suspicious of claims like this one, and I don't think it stands up. I did find some claims of a 100% increase in emergency room visits due to sex toy injuries or problems, between 2007 and 2015... my second hand experience dating a ER nurse in college implies that half of that will be things irretrievably stuck up asses https://people.com/celebrity/fifty-shad ... ies-surge/

The difference is substantial, though. 100% is far lower than 400%... admittedly we've seen another 5 years go by. Emergency room is much less substantial than hospitalization. Sex toys far broader than bondage related.

Is the Shades phenomenon some of that? Doubtless so. All? Not a chance. That same period has also seen substantial expansion of the Internet, porn, and cultural changes and Shades both influenced and reflected.
