I am still thinking about making something like this or in spread eagle.
I go to sleep with all ropes tied to my ankles and wrists so that I can move freely. During the night, water or sand slowly drains away so that together with pulleys and rope ratchets the ropes are slowly tightened more and more. When I wake up in the morning I am tied up like this or in a spread eagle and I have to lie there all day until an electromagnet loosens everything.

Aaaah, that photo reminds me of a scene I set up with a fellow switch. The two organisers of play-parties we used to attend were also an "item". The venue had a three sided square tubular framework, with bars across the top, and a large flat board with eyelets fitted.

We blindfolded both , removed their clothes and tied them with overhead cuffs so their arms were raised, standing a couple of metres apart, facing each other. We then ran a cord tied at one end round the man's testicles, the cord passed down to a ring on the board, between his legs, spread by ropes to two other eyelets. The cord ran up, over a pulley and down to clover clamps attached to the lady's nipples. It is fair to say she is of generous proportions, so we tightened the link so her breasts were lifted by the clover clamps/cord, which of course pulled his balls down. A perfect balance

Then we removed the blindfolds...

and fetched the floggers...

I'm with you on that, Chains and padlocks are my usual method of restraining myself, I like the rattling of the chains as I attempt to move about.

Yeah, chains aren't that common on photos or videos, and the rattling of the chains and the padlocks is something unique. I love the sounds and the added psychological layer of unescapability that chains might give.
I generally use rope, but I will sure get some chains when I buy my pairs of wrist and ankle cuffs so then I can do my usually rope spreadeagles with them and adding more restraints like shown in your pic is faster and easy with chains
