I have kept myself locked up for 10 uninterrupted days.
I guess I will just take it off and put it back in the box

Locking things away if it is easy to retrieve the key.. You could lock the key in a strong box (small safe) and then give the key to a neighbour telling them that you are trying to save money and no matter what they are not to give you the key back until a certain date.

With emlalock, finding a holder shouldn't be too hard.

I haven't done it...but I like the idea of mailing a key to yourself. Obviously send a copy with the original in a safe place.
