I suppose the little critter has to do something during the good weather...

That's because they're counting only those who died from COVID and not those who died with COVID (i.e. that comes in the ER with trauma from an auto accident and tests positive right before dying... ).OrgasmAlley wrote:The UK's Omicron data shows a case-fatality-rate of 0.14% and an infection-fatality-rate of 0.06%, which are both below US CDC's flu numbers for 2018.

At least they're somewhat more honest and not trying to keep the fear porn going full steam.

No, it's not a political comment.lj wrote:no politician seems capable of admitting being wrong. I don't think the UK government are alone in this (so this isn't a political comment!)
Regular disinfecting of often communal surfaces like counters and tables (like at the end of trading ) helps stop 'ordinary' germs spreading to widely, but this was advice in place well before Covid.OrgasmAlley wrote: Most places gave up on disinfecting surfaces long ago, about when the science concluded COVID spreads by airborne transmission, although the CDC continues to say that will protect you through some magic
In fact, there's plenty of evidence it does feck all apart from making people feel good. Surface contamination just isn't a spreading vector for COVID. That much is now clear to me.OrgasmAlley wrote:The CDC is currently promoting surface disinfection as on their page "Protect Yourself (And Others!) From COVID". There is no evidence that it does so.
That's interesting because in the beginning of this mess, surface transmission was The Thing. A few weeks later, it was airborne (after a brief moment of bodily fluid contact). Now they're back to surface transmission. Don't these people ever get dizzy from spinning around like that?Gregovic wrote:In fact, there's plenty of evidence it does feck all apart from making people feel good. No pun intended, but don't hold your breathbound_jenny wrote:I'll bet that's a prelude to ending the mask mandates.
That's hinky right off the bat. It's about as accurate as a survey asking people what their weight is...OrgasmAlley wrote:entirely self-reported via survey
Wow. This totally rocks my sense of good and evil.......It can happen to anyone. Hang in there, K. I am sure you will make the best of it. And don't die. Very soon, I will be including you in a private celebration with only a few select others. Be well, and Shannon salutes you.kinbaku wrote:Despite all the precautions: keeping distance, wearing a mouth mask, washing with a special soap and special towel for my hands when I get home, only shopping once a month for as few strange contacts as possible, Corona got me anyway.
Fortunately, the symptoms are not too bad: just blow my nose a lot and cough now and then. For the rest, no other symptoms: no fever, no loss of taste, no pain, no fatigue, ...
