I'm sure the facts are completely true. He was bored and handcuffed himself without thinking of where the keys were. (Keep your cuff s double locked when not in use people!). The article just ommits that he wasn't bored for a while before trying to get out

I'm with Gregovic. He was bored out of his skull, and overestimated his ability to extricate himself from (or underestimated his ability to get himself stuck in) that situation.

Had there been other people around, I strongly suspect that the stunt would have been preceded by those two fateful and ominous words:

Watch this!

Two little words responsible for so many singed eyebrows, missing fingers, broken bones and other assorted injuries...
