Anti-bark collars

Post by SissytracyNJ »

I have a dog shock collar, and they're fun. I was wondering if anyone has tried the anti barking version? I've heard they don't work well with humans. You have to really talk loudly, almost yell to get a response. Anyone have any experience with one?

Dogs can be pretty loud. Try barking.

Then you could wear it to the dog park in the Montreal borough of St-Leonard where they put up signs prohibiting barking under penalty of fines.

Er, what? :? You read right. No barking in the dog park.

They have since taken down the signs calling it a "misunderstanding", but it really was because the story went around the world and they became the laughingstock of every sensible-minded citizens everywhere...

Toronto had to do the same thing last March.

They've all gone barking mad.

Not sure how accurate these clips are, but reading your story reminds me of "Fun with Dick & Jane" (2005)

I've seen plenty of YouTube clips of people trying it. They usually have to work pretty hard to get them to go off - they are after all designed to respond fairly specifically to barking - you don't want noisy kids torturing the poor pooch with their squeals for instance...

Are you sure it's not because the dogs were barking in English? :p

Although it's not the case, I would not be surprised if it was. Those bozos already fined a pet shop for having an English-speaking parrot.

I saw today that someone has modified it with a piezo element placed against the throat and the collar in a much lower place:

It does require that you have to be aware of the electronics to make the right circuit.
