I found all the copper fittings at a small town hardware store for less than 50% of what the large big box stores were selling it. $1.05 per elbo vs $2.49.

The problem with big box stores is that they mark down the big boxes so they sell, and pick up the slack on the small stuff.

Mom-and-Pop operations don't have that problem. They have low overhead and no need for big boxes. They have what their customers are looking for, period.

Yes.
And if you want to know where I came upon this, I googled "steam punk". The word to me always made me think of "Wild, Wild West". Sure enough, it's there, on Wikipedia, complete with an illustration.

I should have used brass! And added some gages! Lol.

Threaded brass. I might still have some of that crumbling in my house somewhere.........
And also, a few sprockets and gears to simulate a planetary gear set on the cup and the side rods, make it appear like it could twist as well.
I don't know if they make a solder with a brownish tint, but you could definitely polish that copper to a trophy shine.

If one wants to get steamy:

Plenty of plumbing, valves, rivets, nuts, bolts and other brass, copper and steel hardware.

And it keeps one warm in winter.

Just mind the hot cinders when you open the little door at the bottom... especially if you're naked...

The trouble with England, certainly in my part is most of these small hardware shops have gone , When I was a kid we had one in the local town that was an Aladdin cave of bits and bobs. Brilliant for finding the odd bit of hardware that could be used for a kinky purpose. I went in there every Saturday to see what I could find. I will always remember the place as it had one of those automated swiss army displays in the window and if you went in a said to the owner, "I want something to do this or that" he would disappear into the shop and reemerge with the ideal item and an explanation of how to use it. Of course, that was for non-kinky items but I wouldn't have put it past him to have know about that stuff as well.

How tall did you make it and what is the funnel-shaped type object on the left side?

It is 9 inches tall ( the threaded rod is 6” and the cup is about 2. And the object on the side is a pipe mount or support. Plan to attach a rare earth magnet to it so it will magnetically attach to the other unit. Kind of like a from closure bra! Lol.
