I really like that idea, because i can control it with the NodeMCU board and i should be pretty precise.
What about the volume? The ones I saw on aliexpress were pretty dismal, around 400ml per minute, which might severely limit the pumping frequency. Did you find one with better ratings? If so, I'd be interested :)
The pumping action would still be done by the stepper-motor and bilge-pump. The peristaltic pump would only be used to adjust the total air volume in the system, like it's possible with the push-button valves on the original Venus2000

This looks amazing - do you have more details on how the stepper is mounted/connected to the pump? I'd love to give building this a go!

it's quite simple... an aluminum beam is connecting the crank wheel and then pump. The white tape is fixing two pieces of perforated tape in place. They're limiting the movement of the joint between the beam and pump.

Thanks!

Is there any particular reason why you removed the handle completely rather than fastening the beam to the existing handle to give more leverage?

This looks like it could be a great thing to 3D print, I'm very tempted to see if I can find the time/money to try it out...

I never thought about using the handle... but it would also require a bigger crank wheel and faster motor action...
The connector to the pump would definitely something for 3d-printing, I didn't have a reliable printer at that time, but i'm thinking about doing that now...
I'm also thinking about using the pattern-editor from my fucking-machine...
