Hey, I've also just found this?

25 dollars.

Think it might shift viscous liquid? Only need 20ml per second.

Here's the part.

In general, I would guess no. It's possible that a piston pump would work, depending on the construction of the valves, but these are diaphragm pumps that won't be happy with the viscosity.

I thought that may be the case. Would I expect it not to function at all, break early, or be much much slower?

I only need it to run one sixth as much volume per minute it claims it's capable of.

It will run but not pump. The diaphragm pump uses one or more (often an array of four) rubber pucks that are pushed into and out of a valved chamber, and it's not well suited to anything viscous. Likewise, a vane pump (series of spinning chambers that create pressure) is likely to fail entirely. What you'll need to pump something thick is a positive displacement design... that is, if the pump is turned, volume must be moved. While a piston pump meets this standard, your thick fluid will put substantial strain on it, especially the draw via vacuum through the intake valve. Likely beyond the capability of any given pump unless its designed for thick fluids. However, those designed for used motor oil, a common application, rely on the medium being pumped to lubricate the pump itself. Unless pumping a lubricant, they'll fail very quickly.

I once built a control system for an inflatable butt plug, which needed to reliably inflate and deflate using liquid. I used a linear actuator driving a hydraulic cylinder as a pump. This might be a viable solution, if you don't like a pressurized system. Bit of a pain to fill with your fluid, but makes a very effective positive displacement pump. Just use a strong linear actuator.

Thanks for the very detailed reply.

I think it's easiest to pursuing the pressurized garden spray option, hopefully whichever model has the thickest internal and external tubing, to ensure a reasonable flow. If that fails I'll try upgrading it and from there I'll consider other solutions from you. Thanks again

Ok this might give you an idea of how thick this all is.

I'll be testing this in an air pressure based pump as you suggested in about 40 days.

Good afternoon!

So I've got the parts, my big slutty weekend is coming up in 2 weeks and I've inspected the device to see if it will stack up.
I can replace several parts on it to make my tubing thicker, more resilient to pressure, heat, thick liquid.

However, the internal mechanism for the trigger device is maybe going to let me down.
Here's an incorrect aspect ratio, GIF (sorry!)

That hole to let the liquid through is clearly the smallest point in the chain, I'd say it's no bigger than 2x2mm, possibly even smaller.
Do you have any advice on how to improve it? Even if I run with a less viscous fluid, it's very small.

Here's the device.

Oh and thank you for the help!

If it doesn't work as-is, the ability to modify that aperture is essentially zero. Try it, of course. If it doesn't work (at the highest pressure you can manage), I think you'll need a replacement valve. How are you actuating?

Initial version is just by hand.
I've looked inside, I suspect I can safely drill out, about 1 sqmm more surface area at most while keeping the device capable.

The better solution is simply a better mechanism. The pressure chamber and piping seems quite good.
I've found other devices to control water flow but they are not great for quick on and off.
. Example 1

Or

Also not great.

Any idea of a quick release, pressure capable, valve, which is at least 4 if not 5 of 6mm internal diameter?

When looking for nozzle connections such as garden hose connections, I did come across this with a timer built in.
Perhaps not directly for your thick substance, but as an idea for further projects.

Well... that brings me back to the pressurized oil squirter I initially posted about.

In other options, anything designed for a garden hose or household faucet will take the pressure, as that should rate to a minimum of 120 PSI. All of these devices should have a substantial flow. Electronically controlled units -- like sprinkler valves -- will not work with viscous fluids due to the valve design. However, there are many valves, shutoffs, sprayers and diverters that could be promising. Up the scale, you could use a single spool hydraulic control valve (https://www.amazon.com/Hydraulic-Direct ... 87&sr=8-16). They're designed to be bi-directional and plumbed with a return circuit, but I think you can probably employ one for a single direction of flow. I'd plug the extra connections, especially the second output!

The simplest solution is probably a basic hand sprayer or ball valve. There are push button options, if you don't like the standard lever-actuated ball valve (https://www.amazon.com/Big-Boss-XHose-P ... B00VAJOITE).

Peristaltic pumps are quite good for viscous liquids, but they will flow more than squirt in pulses.

Be careful about the air pressure driven contraptions and bodily orifices.
Should the valve or controller fail, you could get badly hurt from the inflation.

I need something like that Amazon one but smaller and easier to work with.

I accidentally destroyed my garden sprayer so I didn't get to test it >:( got too eager trying to increase the size of one of the sections of the flow.
