Yes the magnet is pushed by a spring towards the Switch. When you pull the cord you pull the magnet against the spring away from the switch engaging it and therefore closing the circuit. One of my latest projects is a reed switch preloaded with a spring. I will post all information (switch part numbers - 3d print files etc.) soon. The switch will engage when you pull on a rope . You can use nc or no switch depending on what you want to use it. I am using it to switch a estim signal....
