Wow, tried it with a wide leather belt, this really works.

Not brave enough to try, but if you were to tie your ankles and use the belt from your ankles joined to this to pull it tight behind your back, hog-tie style, there really would be no escape.

Sounds too dangerous. You'd have to ensure that you wouldn't get a ricochet and there was no possibility of it getting you in the eye, particularly if you were moving around attempting release.
