Ok Liz, I'm trying again. I'm sure I'll understand it this time.

Edit: I definately understand the logic and the finished product, but I just can't, in my head, make it come together through the process. I'd probably have to actually think it out if I were to try it. But I would never ruin such a beautiful piece of equipment

OK, redone with pictures...
I skipped version #1...

This one just hit me, (no it didn't hurt...)
So...
Idea, part 2:
same as above, but you need a larger tube that will fit over the stocks, and drill this tube to match pin hole...

Add 2 pins to hold the tube in place. (actually, just 1 pin is neded...)
the stocks must be cut where the hinge will alow you to reach the other cuff.
and the tube must be able to slide free of the hinge.
This one may not be the best way to destroy the stocks...

And Idea #3, (Second new version...)
Redone...
Start with:
0----(0)----0
Cut one side,
slide a larger tube over this side,
drill 2 holes through tube and stocks:

0----(0)-- --0
==== <- larger tube

Now you have:
0----(0)-===-0
bolt the tube to the stocks (1 side), this is the fixed side.
Insert free cuff part in the tube, and insert a pin to hold it.

Now, to use:
Attach to neck and left wrist (the fixed 3/4)
Attach free end to right wrist.
Insert free (right) end into tube, and insert locking pin.
Now you are set.
To get out, pull pin...

(But, such a shame to destroy such a nice looking set of stocks..)
So, recreate this with PVC pipes and enjoy...

Maybe that will help you see what I saw...

At first I was picturing the hinge at the neck, but was trying to picture the tube holding it there...

Cut stocks at neck, add bar (gray) across the stocks, secure on left side, (left ring, add another at neck)
Add a hose clamp at right side, tighten with screwdriver, but you will need some way to keep the clamp from sliding around.
Now, later, to get free, loosen the clamp and slide off the bar.
You could also tap the stocks and just screw in a bolt to hold it in place...

I'm glad the pictures helped you see what I saw.
I know, they were not the best ways to destroy the stocks, but it was one way to use them in SB and be able to get out as well.
Better would be something built for SB use that worked the way the stocks did...

I see said the blind man.
I try to make as many of my toys as possible. That way I don't have to worry about ruining a good (expensive) toy.
But to continue along that idea. You could also use the larger tube as the basis for making the bar longer. Spreading your hands wider. Therefore reducing movement of your hands to a greater degree. But you would have to do both ends.
