Need help with an ice lock idea

I spend a lot of time in hotels in boring places. Tying myself up is the obvious solution to this problem but I've always struggled with being/staying tied safely.
Hanging the keys to some padlocks from an ice lock (or pair?) has always appealed to me as a time release mechanism, but I can't pre-freeze the lock.
I'm trying to come up with a way to use hotel ice cubes as the mechanism for a time delay lock, but I can't put the idea all the way together. I'm extremely handy, I have a 3d printer, basic 3d design skills, and if it's really necessary, I can machine metal parts too. I'd also be more than happy to share any designs I come up with. I'd love any input you can give.

Try throwing a bunch of ice cubes into a sock dangling from a loop with the keys hanging from it. When the cubes melt, it will fall and make the keys available. Might want to use something to catch the water.

Well... I've been overcomplicating this idea terribly. Now I feel a bit silly. Thank you
