its not terrible. i have seen MUCH worse movies.

To be realistic, few would likely take a stab at anything similar. A few curious ones will dip their toes to test the water, just to see if they like it. Some will turn back, but others will continue their explorations and maybe even take the plunge.
In any case, the water cooler talk at work after the release of 50 Shades was interesting, to say the least. I recognized the signs of curiosity and the willingness to explore in one young lady colleague.
