What is the legality of purchasing REAL Handcuffs in the UK domestically or overseas?.

Are people allowed to privately own them, so long as they don't use them on anyone without their consent and never take them outside their home?.

If so, where can they be purchased?.

Handcuffs are freely available in the UK and across the EU.

The only legal restriction is on the export of leg irons out of the EU (anti slavery legislation- I'll leave you to to ponder on that one!).

Most sex shops sell them (usually poor quality) plus ranges of other restraints and gags, etc.

Good quality handcuffs can be bought from Police supply companies, 'The Handcuff Shop' (UK) and ;Cuffsland' (EU) both have large ranges including old style Darby cuffs made in Pakistan.

Cuff24 has some of the most interesting cuffs I have ever seen. Who needs real police ones? You wouldn't want to lose the keys... but anyway, I don't know exactlywhere, but I have read that there are a few places that it's 100% ILLEGAL to be in possession of handcuffs/ legcuffs etc... Seems a bit strange.

Yea...
In australia, they are classed as a "prohibited weapon",
so like with any other weapon (handgun, taser, etc), you need a license
illegal to import them, illegal to possess them.

the hard bit would be importing them cause border security is very tight
possession: as long as you dont have them in public, they wont know about them.

one idea i have had is to order about a dozen pairs of fake ones with the saftey release but have a real pair in one of the boxes, but im not sure how that would go with the xray (the real one would probably look different)

I would think it would be legal, that's how most people start with handcuffs.
