Inserting quotes?

Ok, at fear of being labelled stupid, I gotta ask:

How does this QUOTE thing work! :x

When I click on the quote button, there is no form that opens or anything. It just inserts the word "quote" in my working window. So I thought I had to copy & paste what I wanted from someone else's posts after it, then click on the quote button again, but it doesn't work like it does for everyone else!

I thought it was maybe because I wasn't using Internet Explorer, so I tried with IE but with the same result?

Help! Me not understand...

Are you clicking the quote button in the original message (upper right corner), or the quote button in the reply form? If you use the one in the original message, you should get a reply form with the original message already quoted. You can then edit out any of it you don't want to quote, and add you comments either before or after it.

If you click the quote button in the reply form, you just get the
word quote, as you said.

Thanks for your replies

I never even noticed the quote button in the window! I was using the one in the reply window.

I will practice in the test section as recommended.

Thanks again for your help.

Me not stupid now...
