A leather collar (with a steel band inside)
Just fooling around in the Castle Cumference workshop.
A 25 mm wide strip of 1 mm steel 316 encased in leather.
Hand sewing leather is almost meditative for me.

you shouldn't be wasting time in your workshop.
What about the matching cuffs ?
just can't get the staff...

That looks like a really nice job. Stitching looks really great.

Re: A leather collar (with a steel band inside)
Thanks.
Yes, matching cuffs!
But that gives me one small problem. Lady C has dainty little hands (kind of), and I have something akin to shovels if you ask her.
In our stocks that will just fit around my wrists, she just slips out.
In other words, I will try to keep the same style, but I think I will have to use traditional buckles.
It will be an entertaining holiday project.
(The un-official xmas gift )

Use English style cuffs then. They are flat | with a round ) cuff part. The beauty of this is that even the smallest wrist will not slip out.

That looks extremely nice, I'd definitely be curious to see what other kind of work you could put out. You have the gift for sure, keep on keepin on with what you're doing.
Re: A leather collar (with a steel band inside)
Beautiful. Really well done. I hope I can one day actually start on my resolution of doing leather crafting and then long after that become good enough to create something like that.
How may I serve you? *Curtsey*

Thanks for all the nice words.
I like the "English cuffs", but I also really like a spread eagle tie.
But The holidays are coming, and I have a quarter of a cow to play with. I'll start with some buckle based.
Many years ago at school , and it was traumatizing!
I would rather pursue a career in local politics than suffering the yarn again!
Leather sewing is not like that. You just have to make the preparations, line everything up nicely, then do all the stitches the same way (oh no! I know what you can compare that to.... it may sound the same, BUT I WILL NOT GO THERE!)
It really is not that hard.
A few simple tools and a bit of training, and it looks great.
(I think I have done it before, but I can warmly recommend Al Stohlman's "The art of hand sewing leather")

You won't have to if I go first (which I usually do)...Sir Cumference wrote:BUT I WILL NOT GO THERE!
The hardest part of knitting is to know how to stop... it's really easy to end up with a nine foot sock or a fourteen foot scarf...

Nice work, sir.
You should have stitched a proper nickname on the collar,
That would have prolonged your meditation.

Why not make steel inserts, covered with your beautiful leather work, to reduce the size of the wrist stock and give her a surprise.Sir Cumference wrote:Yes, matching cuffs!

But I am sure it can make for a nice hugging bondage item.bound_jenny wrote:The hardest part of knitting is to know how to stop... it's really easy to end up with a nine foot sock or a fourteen foot scarf...

Re: A leather collar (with a steel band inside)
Prototype of a matching cuff.
I have only used a single rivet, the rest is stitched.
Brass D-ring and silver plated brass buckle.
This one will be able to restrain a horse.
(that should not be quoted to Lady C, and "horse" should only be taken to mean "very strong and noble" )
