the advice on finding munches and events has unfortunately changed and FetLife is probably the best bet for finding your local scene. Just put towns near you into the "search" box and do some research. You do have to overcome any personal limits on socialising - the kink scene relies on people getting to know each other personally and not often via a keyboard, so do push yourself into making that kind of contact - in my experience kinksters are very open and friendly (and frank!)
I was or had been a member of my local munch and was a member of the nucleus group from its inception in 2013. I got on well for a while but people branch off into clique groups, form relationships and have interests outside my spectrum of comprehension and I got left in the dark. Have not gone back in a good while and doubt I ever will. I am also on FL with equally zero interest other than to do unsavory things to me despite my eloquent profile and photos.
True, local groups or FL aren't always the ideal answer but there's always this forum- think of it as club with 9000 members. Even if the vast majority have either faded away or remain forever silent, it's not impossible you find someone here sharing your interests. It's just a matter of location and patience. So.. welcome and stick around for awhile!
