Stupidly simple ice locks

Post by neo »

Sorry if this has been done before.
But I couldn't see it on a quick run through so...

Get 2 hair bands (the type you make a ponytail with). Test and make sure they are strong enough that you can't just rip them apart. Usually they are quite strong enough!
Place them in an ice-cube mould in an ice-cube tray and fill it with water so that you get two hoops of hair band out of the water and the rest of the bands in the water. It's virtually impossible for the two hair bands to magically knot themselves together, but give them a few pokes till you are sure they can't. Then freeze it.
Hours later .. take ice cube from tray. You now have a cube with two hoops you can lock anything you like to. Pretty much fail proof very easy and the only downside is you get an ice cube amount of water somewhere while it melts.

Note: If you think it through, try and use the ice lock somewhere you can't cheat and warm it with your body during the bondage. Well unless you like having ice cold hands that is ...

Want something to last longer?
Equally easy. I use long versions of those bendy metal in plastic things they seem to use for just about any kind of packing these days (especially for packing cables neatly). Anything will do though just as long as it won't knot itself up even remotely. I'm thinking those cable ties with the end snipped off would do nicely as well because they *want* to spring back to straight. Ok so bend it in half loosely so it's kind of a long U shape. Insert it in a bottle or can with the loop poking out at the top. Fill the bottle with as much water as you dare. And freeze it. When enough of the ice melts it should be very easy to pull the bent wire (or plastic) out of the ice. So again .. just add two locks to the loop at the top and the chains can go where you like as long as when the ice melts, the wire will pull loose and the locks will slide off. Careful with this one. Trial run it first. Once you have it working well it's very simple and easy.
