To get out you need to have an another one or the back of a standard handcuff key to push it out. Then you can grab the end of it and you can pull it out.
They are good because you won't have nearly as much mark and pain as you would get from strugling in normal cuffs.
But on your back it's very very hard to open them. So the release has to let the cuffs go free so you can take them off of your wrist on the front later.
