Re: Electronic timer lock
Oh, that looks very interesting. If I didn't had a kSafe, I would probably buy me one of these.

That looks very interesting. I do wonder about safety in terms of what happens if the battery drains. Does the timer reset? Does it open? Does it stay locked if you forget to charge it beforehand?

I love the idea. I also worry about the reliability, especially when it comes from AliExpress.
I might buy a few pieces to open one and check the mechanisms, if it has a safe design to release in case of failure.
As always, even a key can fail, so using 2 or more reduces the risk.

I have never ordered from them, but looks like I may need to now. I'm sure it's like anything else in that price range, but with some trickery, it could be very useful. Would love to watch that timer count down from say, 24 hours....

Some good questions about it. Would like to know what happens when the battery dies. I get that it might not unlock, but when it does get power again what does it do?
If some one is getting one to test great please keep us updated.

i would like to read the whole ad,but most of it seems to be in german
Re: Electronic timer lock: Someone tried it yet?
Dutch actually. Easy mistake to make though. German is after all just a Dutch dialecttiemeupalso wrote:i would like to read the whole ad,but most of it seems to be in german
This is the same ad on the international aliexpress site, in english
The english one is actually easier to understand than the dutch... (Even if you speak dutch that is)
Having just looked at it again I couldn't resist. I've ordered 2. I'll report back when they get here. Though that could take a while (20 to 35 days according to shipping info)

Re: Electronic timer lock: Someone tried it yet?
I just had one arrive. I haven't tried it yet in session, but I have done a test run with it. The lock itself has three buttons, a display and a wire-cable that locks. It has a button on the side to release the lock, if it's in the unlocked state. You can set the timer to max 99 hours en 99 mins. When you press start, it counts down from 5 to 0 and then it starts it's locked period. During the first countdown and the last 5 second countdown in the locked period, it beeps very loud. After that you can hear a unlocking noise of a motor. You have to press the side button to release the wire and then the wire comes free.
The lock is powered by a lithium battery inside and is rechargable via the provided usb-cable.
The quality of the lock is doubtable, I do not know how much tension it can take. I verified it works, so I'll try it later this week.

is the case metal or plastic?
Re: Electronic timer lock: Someone tried it yet?
Can you also check what happens if there is no more battery?
I'm afraid to guess that if you hear anything unlocking sound, it might need power to move the motor and unlock the chain, which adds some danger while using the device.
