Darlex Sleepsack Self-Bondage UPDATE

Post by Zan »

My darlex sleepsack from WinterFetish came today :D

I tied a rope to my bedframe and then from the rope to the zipper I used some thin, but strong wire. Then I began by climbing inside the sleepsack without using the internal sleeves, there was a decent amount of work required to fit the sleepsack over my shoulders and get the zipper zipped up partially. I zipped it up to about six inches from the top. Struggled around a bit and decided to do the same with my arms in the internal sleeves, this also worked out quite well. I knew I was not going anywhere unless I got that zipper down, so then I got myself out again by worming around with the rope to get the zipper down.

Next I wanted to try to see what would happen with the zipper going to the very top. I knew that there was a strong possibility of the zipper becoming "stuck" because when pulled down the zipper would just cause the top "collar" to fold over. Sure enough it did, thankfully I tried this without my arms in the sleeves so I was able to work my hands up and get the zipper straight to come down. So that brings me here. In order to reliably and safely tie myself in this sleepsack with the internal sleeves being used I need to either 1) Find a method to keep the top from folding over or 2) Somehow stop the zipper from going up too high (about three inches from the top).

Try sewing a button or something similar to the zipper where you want it to stop.
this should keep it from going all the way up.
Also try lubricating the zipper teeth with some thing like spray silicone.
It might help you from further "stuck" spots.
You might think of a last ditch back-up realse, maybe a knife to cut yourself out.

I'm having a hard time visualizing that button. The lubrication of the zipper is a fantastic idea. My worst-case backup is my roommate. But I'd like to avoid that.

silicone is actually not a great lubricant for zippers. It tends to rub off too quickly. One of grandma's tricks works great though, just rub a pencil (graphite) over the zipper. The graphite powder lubricates the zip. A wax (like from a paraffin or beeswax candle) also works well. (Some hardware stores also sell specialised powdered lubricants for zippers. Random google result for instance
How may I serve you? *Curtsey*

Awesome thanks! I'll check into that.

As far as the button, you're saying I take a button and sew it into the material right next to it?

UPDATE: I have sewn on four buttons near the top of the zipper track. I gave it a go again this morning, first without my arms in the sleeves. The buttons do a very good job of resisting the zipper going past them, if you tried to you could get the zipper past them so this will not be a long-term solution. Image: http://imgur.com/a/bDuz3

After testing that I decided to finally do it with the internal sleeves and zipped up all the way to the buttons. It was fantastic :Big Grin Spent about half an hour in it, plan to continue to lengthen my sessions. Ideally I would like to sleep in it but I am not sure how long it will take me to work up to that.

I setup a camera and recorded some video, this will be uploaded soon.

I would have sewn just 1 button, rotated 90 degrees compared to how you did it and on just 1 side. When the button is between the 2 contact sides of zipper, it's physically impossible for the zipper to go past it.

Also you need more thread i think to pull at least 3-4 loops, and tighter.

That is a fantastic idea, I will add one on the bottom flap very soon. I was able to add more loops earlier today, https://imgur.com/a/12gpl
