I was watching an episode of American Pickers where they were picking someone with plenty of electric devices, and one in particular made me laugh myself silly:
An electric prostate warmer (pre-1930)... complete with naughty bit to stick into the appropriate orifice.
Among the examples of other quack medical devices flashed on screen (and got my attention
) was an advert for an 1890s "electric corset":
It was not really electric, but it sported a magnetized busk, and supposedly this wonder corset could help "weak backs"...
My corsets are neither electric nor magnetic (unless one counts pulling in curious gentlemen's stares
), but they sure helped my bad back.
