OK, I have finished Sudoku 6...
a simpler version that only uses 1 through 6...
You can solve the puzzles easily...
But, the question is...
What punishments triggers would you like to see???
Fill a cell (number box) within 60 seconds or get a shock?
A shock for every number wrong when you check?
A shock when you enter a wrong number will be more of a running hint as you play...

I don't have the teaser part installed, and currently only 3 working puzzles...

I have some suggestions for how to make it more versatile.

Simplest mode, allow mouse selection and mouse or keyboard number selection.
Next up, only allow mouse selection of squares, require keypad number choice.
require keypad up down left right selection and numbers
VCR button interface, use only a few buttons to cycle between squares and then digits

Super advanced mode, show the numbers present but as soon as you move the cursor to select a square the numbers just turn into grey squares forcing you to decide what you want and remember what goes where. After each placement turn the digits back on.

Measure the time to make a selection. Use that to rank or score progress.

Using the number blanking, start each placement with the board greyed. Display the numbers with a running counter, either up or down. When the count hit zero or goes over a limit begin a penalty. That could be go back to blanked, it could be loud noises or any other attached electro toy like a water pump or stimulator. Continue distraction until a number is played.

On obvious failure numbers, illegal plays given current board, punish between rounds. Continue punishment until the fault is removed or corrected.

Does this help get your mind rolling on ways to make it exciting?

That's what I was looking for...
Where to place the punishments...
Right now, everything is selected by the mouse...
And I have 10 puzzles entered...
I came across a book that has the 1-6 numbers...
I also have the 1-9 puzzles, but I think I may copy the program
to use the 1-9...
I will release the simple program shortly, but the punishments version will take a bit longer...

Just in case anyone is still scratching their heads over this one...

Game #___ which of the available games is loaded...
[Start game] load a random game to start playing.
[Check] check for completed, it will show how many spaces you got right
(could be a teaser entry)
[Quit] well... guess...

The program uses just the mouse, you select the cell you want on the 6x6 grid
where the "0" is, shows you the current value for that cell, select 1-6 for the new value
The blank box is to clear the value...
Games_6.txt is the list of games that can be played...
Just 9 currently...
All you need is the program and games_6.txt in the same folder and you are ready to play...
This version is clean, you can show it off to friends...
If you have a Sudoku book and want to enter the games in games_6.txt...
All you need to know is the line format...

009- the game number, there is currently no tracker for games you finish... yet...
first set of 36 numbers- this is the prefilled numbers, starting from the top left and going down...
Second set of 36 numbers- This is the finished grid...
When you Check your work, the second set is checked against the grid to see how you did...

On the first line of the file...
009, StNum, SolvedNum
009 is the number of games available, update this with your new entries...
StNum- start numbers...
SolvedNum- grid solve numbers...
Just labels, except for the first one (009) and do not do any thing...

As for playing Sudoku... there are several "how-to's" for that...
Later, I will have the "teaser" add-in and the 1-9 grid version... (Much harder...)

Working on some tuning here...
You can now select the cell, and use the keyboard to enter the number.
I am working out how the teaser will work...
There will be an option for a timer...
You can turn it on or off...
Show the countdown...
And you can enter 2 numbers for the min/max random times
IE: 15,45...
The minimum time between "teases" to the max time...
The program will select a number between 15 and 45 seconds...
After each tease, a new number will be selected...
Second:
When you check the numbers, for each range of wrong, there will be a second set of teases...
(Clear as mud, I know... so...)
IE:
1,1, tease command lvl1
2,2, tease command lvl2
3,4, tease command lvl3
5,9, tease command lvl4
10,36, tease command lvl5
----------------------
If you check the numbers and you get 1 wrong, you get tease #1
if you get... 6 wrong, you get tease #4
if you get 10 or more wrong, you get tease #5

I also figured out how I can randomize the grid and with 1 number set, get more than 36 new games out of it...
Also, if anyone has a Sudoku book and would like to summit puzzles entries, that will help to expand this... Thanks in advance...
Once I get this proven, I will expand it to the 9 numbers... (Much harder!!!)
And may be more "fun"...
