New to Arduino boards

Post by Wantsbdsm »

So, I am not completely uneducated as I work with many PLC controllers and VFD's... Essentially I have a spare TENS 7000 that I an thinking of hooking servos up to the control knobs and using board to control their movement form slow to fast and from slight to maximum while being able to set max and min limits on the servos for movement. Could someone please suggest a good board AND software for running this??? As I said, I am slightly above novice to these boards...

I mostly work with RaspberryPi, so i can't say much about arduino.
But before you start fiddling with servos, have you considered to replace the potentiometers with digital one like this: http://www.analog.com/media/en/technica ... 3_5248.pdf ?
I think that would be way easier and less error-prone.

Arduino isn't a bad choice to start out on. Theres plenty of different form factors for different applications and hundreds of examples and tutorials on the net on how to do things. It's the main reason the arduino is the go to microcontroller board at the moment, the board isn't the cheapest or best out there but the ecosystem around it is great. Same goes for the Raspberry Pi as single board computers go.

Another advantage of Arduino is that it's very similar to the ESP8266 / ESP32. So once you want to add bluetooth or wifi connectivity to you can switch to an ESP and there won't be a big difference in the code. They're much smaller and cheaper than a raspberry and can handle most projects.
