Computer controled lockbox
Computer controled lockbox
Hi all, i am looking for some computer(usb) controled lockbox. Some small box with usb conector. After conecting it to PC in some programe you can unlock it if you write password. Does anybody have idea if something lik this is on market?
Re: Computer controled lockbox
I've been thinking of modifying a small fire safe for electric release.
I know next to nothing of USB programming, but it should include
detection that the key or what ever is in the box, and that the object
to be restrained (me) actually is.
For back-up the normal key can be used to open the box.

Re: Computer controled lockbox
There are some amateur projects where electronic safes have been modified, but I've never seen anything like that for a reasonable price (of course you could go with remote-controlled safes for really valuable things, but that would be way more than I would want to pay for).
I've also thought about making my own one. The main reason why I didn't was that I wasn't able to find an affordable electronic safe which wasn't totally easy to break. I saw some videos online where people were opening some cheap safes (about 40€ or so) in 5 seconds without any tools - that gave me the idea that I might need a better one, or I would spend too much time trying to crack-open it .

Re: Computer controled lockbox
Hm.. what could be done is a small lockbox with a microcontroller for brains that 'stores' your password and allows your computer to send the password to the box over a Usb/Serial connection. Not quite sure how that'd be designed further, but if you have any questions, just ask.

http://www.mykeysafe.com/ seems to be selling a safe controllable over the internet. It is a bit pricey though.

It works for me. It's not the most sophisticated web site, but it's working.MKu wrote:This site seems Out of Order.anna wrote:http://www.mykeysafe.com/ seems to be selling a safe controllable over the internet. It is a bit pricey though.

Ur key could be gone for a long time. If I was going to buy one I think this would be it.

The way you set the time on this device looks like it gives very much room for mistakes...bf750 wrote:Here is another one u might want to check out.

Strange people those designers...
Re: Computer controled lockbox
This is pretty spendy as well but i think would be worth it considering the alternatives to timmed safes.
