So... If I'm whipping someone's ass, that means I'm not crazy?

I know a number of people who would gladly dispute that conclusion...

Heck, I might even argue with myself on that point.

Sure, go ahead and take sides!

Seriously, I just read it all and it makes a whole lot of sense. One needs to be very level-headed to do what we do, either in self-bondage or partnered bondage (though sometimes hormones bollix up the works and gets one into trouble - but experience is gold, right?). One needs to be orderly, self-disciplined, meticulous, attentive to the needs of the other, and respectful of rules. All admirable traits, right? Not exactly the first thing that comes to the mind of your average vanilla (neurotic?) when confronted with a wasp-waisted, stiletto-heeled, leather-clad evil Mistress with a whip, eh?

Interesting that the most non-conformist people tend to have the personality traits usually associated with people who are regarded with the highest esteem.

I remember it took some media coverage when it was published two years ago.

Unfortunately, there is this little detail:
BDSM practitioners were recruited from a Dutch BDSM web forum. Comparison participants were recruited through notices concerning “online secrecy research.” These were obtained through a variety of sources including a popular Dutch women’s magazine and a website that allows visitors to post their secrets. I have some concerns about whether the comparison group is a good representation of the general population, which I will return to in due course.
That means, that the "practitioners" are likely to have a high degree of selection bias.
They are "out", they are willing to talk and they are very likely to be quite OK about their activities.

(But at least it did not show "they are a bunch of neurotic perverts and abuse victims")

Of all the words you chose "Pervert" to take exception to??
 I know your just being facetious.
But on a serious note, I think it does require a certain degree of intelligence, self-control, and creativity to maintain secrecy and safety when we do what we do.

We might make good espionage agents since leading a double life is automatic and instinctive to most of us- we don't need any special training for that. 8)

That smells like a plot for a spy-based porn movie.

Now what would James Bond's Q do to conceal spy stuff in my toys...? :whip: :gag:

Jenny, I don't know for sure what toys you have, but I'm sure 'ol Q could devise a multi-functional vibrator/encrypted satellite phone/night vision camera.

And you never know when a corset with a concealed dagger could be useful, along with a Mrs. Peel-like leather catsuit for those night missions. :whip: :-D

Me too. As a kid and still know I seriously fancied her.

They are being repeated on British TV at the moment one every week day night. Last week they showed the Fire and Brimstone episode, the one were Mrs Peel is dressed as a dominatrix, as soon as she appeared in that outfit I got hard.

The fight scenes are unrealistic by todays stands but I just love the way she slaps the villians around, I tangle with her any day.
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

It is strange that more women prefer the submissive role, were men are roughly half half.

To quote the report
"This suggests that female BDSM practitioners are more likely than males to prefer gender-typical roles. "

I guess we still live in a world where women feel uncomfortable taking the dominant role.
Are women still subjected to the old ways of female oppression that society has used to “keep them in there” or do women have a natural leaning towards being submissive that has held them back for many years.

What do the ladies(and men) think to it ?

The Queen of Sin! Absolutely delicious! I wondered - at the time - why I liked her in that outfit, and why I daydreamed about dressing like that myself.

That's what I found out later, the effect it had on the opposite sex! :D

An interesting question. Since the situation has been going on since the dawn of humanity, it's somewhat understandable that, as the saying goes, old habits die hard. So even if now, we legally have equality, there still is the social inheritance of male domination and female submission that history has left us. Despite that we, as a society, like to pat ourselves on the back for having equality between the sexes, it's still there. Not as much, but still there (though there are still, even in this day and age, some segments of humanity that keep treating their women like dirt).

On the other hand, I find it quite interesting (and occasionally amusing) that many, many men are very eager to submit to me if I dress like the aforementioned Mrs. Peel... :whip:

In my opinion there in lies the problem, Women need to be empowered not just through equality but through preference. They need the legal and social power to show they are better than men.
Men need a taste of their own medicine. I have always considered the world would be a much better place if ruin by a large majority of women or just solely by women, maybe with a complete ban on men holding any office of power.
That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
