Classic instructional books about knots?

Post by theemeadows »

Hi,

New guy here. I am and always have been interested in using light bondage and knots on my sex partners, and only recently found out a girl I see is also interested in trying it
out, mostly as sub. I grew up reading adventure guides for boys (scouts, book for boys, etc.) and doing renovation jobs with my father where he would try to teach me various knots, but I've forgotten almost everything I learnt. I prefer an old-school approach to learning, books and practice over online guides and videos, it's a part of the charm for me.

tl;dr, I'd like to ask for advice on the best classical and in-depth instructional titles for knots, both for conventional (rigging, fishing) and for specific bondage uses.

P.S. The partner I mentioned before has a slight aversion to skin-on-skin contact, body fluids and dicks (although she is cis), they're not things she doesn't end up wanting eventually but light bondage is almost the only sexual interest I'm aware of, with the exception of kegels and heavy petting. Any tips?

Cheers!

Searching for it, made it show up at a couple of web pages.
It deserves the reputation as a knotty opera magna.

Due to respect for copyright, I have decided not to post the link.

Should anyone decide to risk a life of crime and despair and googles:
the ashley book of knots pdf
It is their own problem.

I think what I started with might have been an earlier edition of this:

a bit of topic, but "screw the roses, send me thorns" is allways worth the purchase, as it shows bdsm is about mutual fun, educates the new victam and takes a lighthearted & wellwritten approach to the theme.

I agree ponylady, while it's not specifically about knots it is another great book for one's personal kink library.

And for some reason that title makes me think of Claudia... :)

There are several instructional tomes at Project Guttenburg such as
https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/30983

These are copyright free.

They are not classics yet, but the Two Knotty Boys books "Showing You the Ropes" have knots, wraps and their applications in simple well illustrated form.
