Pillory and Stocks integrated with bed

I've been a lurker on here for a while, but decided finally to post my own DIY work for you all to see. I have always been a fan of the more "medieval" bondage implements, so I have always wanted to make a pillory and/or stocks. This summer I made my own twin-sized bed for my girlfriend and I out of plans I modified after finding online. By modified I of course mean perverted. Everything I made from Pine, and i did all the cutting and work with a jigsaw. The goal was to make something sturdy, that would break down into more easily transportable elements.

The bed is a simple plywood platform box that is the size of the mattress (Full). Surrounding the box is a 1x6 rail that is set off from the box by two inches, and taller then the box by two inches. This both gives the bed a more distinctive shape then "box", and also hides the bottom of the mattress where the sheets tuck under. The link is to the plan that i modified, which has a picture of a similar bed to what I made: http://www.ehow.com/how_4597338_build-p ... frame.html

Now the fun stuff:
All three restraints that i made (pillory, stocks, and shrew's fiddle) I made from 2x4s. I measured my wrists, ankles, and neck, then printed circles and ovals off of the computer in the general sizes necessary. I chose sizes that would be on the tight side, then widened the holes through sanding and sawing until they were comfortable, but snug (the pieces are made for both my use and my girlfriends, and her measurements were slightly smaller, but close enough that the toys hold her too). Everything is sanded smooth, but i decided not to finish them in any way. The wrist holes for the shrew's fiddle I experimentally covered in leather, which makes it slightly more comfortable. I don't plan on doing the same for the other bits. The 2x4s are joined with hinges and latches I got from Home depot. When the toys need to be put away, theres a drawer on the side of the bed that, when pulled all the way out, grants access to the entire rest of the inside of the bed, where all of the pictured toys fit nicely.

Image

The two plain 2x4s at the top of the picture are what attach the pillory or stocks to the bed. The T brackets at the top of them line up with two holes drilled in the bottom center of the stocks and pillory (you can see them pretty easily at the bottom of the stocks in the above picture). I have two threaded screws cut to size that go through the T brackets and the restraint, which keeps them from coming detached.

Image

At the bed, the 2x4 runs between the rail I mentioned earlier, and the mattress box. On either side are the pieces that hold the rail in place, and they just so happen to be exactly the width of a 2x4 - convenient ;-) Another hole drilled in the 2x4 lines up with a hole drilled in the side of the support in the bed (not pictured) through which another threaded rod is placed, firmly holding the 2x4 in place.

Below is the space the 2x4 goes through (hard to see because it's all painted black)

And the same, but with the 2x4 in place.

By having two different length 2x4 supports, i can switch up where the restraint is, like below.

Image

That's handy for holding legs in place at the bottom of the bed. The pillory can be put at that height too, which either keeps the prisoner kneeling, if they are on the non-bed side, or laying down, if they are on the bed itself. Of course, you can put the stocks up high, and put the prisoner on the bed with their feet up high, allowing great access for tickling, bastinado, or whatever your pleasure is.

Finally I made two spreader bars from oak dowels, pretty standard, with eyehooks at each end. I predrilled for the eyehooks, then tightened them down with pliers, which is strong enough that I can't undue them by hand. Pillory is included in the picture for scale.

Image

None of this is specifically made for self-bondage, since I have a wonderful woman who, while not being into bondage herself, enjoys the other stuff that tends to happen when we do play, and so happily plays with me (or occasionally, gets played with by me - I'm a definite switch). There are a few really clever self bondage versions of the stocks and pillory which could be easily adapted to go along with my setup.

The next idea I have floating around in my head involves building a rack-type thingy inside the bed, but that might be stretching (cue groans) my design skills to the limit.

Looks great!

I wish I could have a bed custom made for BDSM!

Love the Shrew's fiddle - that and an armbinder are two things I'd really like to try out. I guess that you use it with the latch down - can the wearer reach the latch to open it when is uppermost?
Also, do you find it sturdy enough with just the hinge at the neck end and the latch? (I assume it has just the visible latch) or did you add some short dowels inside the centre join to stabilise the two halves when closed?

Thanks for the compliments :-)

Teather - The latch on the shrew's fiddle was placed in between the hands specifically because if it was placed on the end like the other two, it would have been reachable. As long as it's worn with the latch down, it's quite inescapable. I've never tried it with the latch up, but I imagine it would be possible to open that way. I hadn't thought of using dowels like that, it's a good idea, but once its latched shut it doesn't move. I was careful when i screwed on the latch to make the pieces as far away from each other as possible but still shut, so that it's snug.
