But i would have used a two motor system. A linear actuator to adjust the strength and a speed controlled motor for hit frequency.

You mean with a cam that moves the attachment? I have thought about that, but that would limit the angle the cane moves. You would need way more strength to accelerate it over the short distance.

Well, if you build according to my sketch, the angle would be 30°. Just by moving the pivot point of the cam disc southwards you can increase the angle up to 45°.
I think, by changing the length of the lever and the diameter of the cam disc, you could increase the angle even more.

Regarding strength, well, there are 300 lbs linear actuators available but i've also seen a heavy duty one with 1200 lbs.

Bad idea imho. They are not made for sideways loading, and when they break they produce super sharp fibers.

if you are looking for a long-lasting cane, I can recommend (from very personal experience) Delrin a.k.a. acetal rod. It is available in a variety of diameters, it is easily cut with ordinary saws, produces no fibres and blood easily wipes off

It will not fracture and is very whippy when the diameter is small, very thuddy when you get to 12mm

yes, Delrin is perfect!
The rod in the video clip is 6mm Delrin at 50% strength. For my machine, it turned out to be the size that works/hurts best.

last time Lady Helena used the spanking-machine on me, it didn't work perfectly, which earned me an extra punishment...
needless to say, that i was very motivated to improve the reliability...

while i was trying to increase the torque of the stepper-motor, the driver-circuit went up in smoke... (i love the smell of burnt electronics in the morning! )
I replaced it by a microprocessor-driven model... I had not expected, how much better the motor runs with it. More torque and a lot less noise...
I also did some fixes in the software, now it arms twice as fast and due to a better timing, it also hits a bit harder.

During my test with the new setup, I ramped up from 20% to 55% within around 30 strokes. Because it always hit the same area, my skin had started to break, so i stopped.
I needed a solution to vary the height...
Luckily, i found a motorcycle-lift that had the perfect size to mount the spanking-machine on. I mounted another stepper-motor to the crank shaft and now it can be moved up and down automatically by about 25cm...
It's quite heavy now, but that also means that i don't have to fasten it to a fixed point to prevent it from moving around when the stroke is released...

Friday will be the official test-drive... unless Lady Helena is in the mood to do something else...

Wow your work is really amazing... i only realized a Web Control for my Tens and the inflatable Buttplug... never would be able to do such a complex Control Unit
