I'm using a PWM controller board (DROK 200085). Instead of the potentiometer, I use a chip with an analogue output (PCF8591) to provide the 0-5V control voltage. It's connected to the I2C pins of the RaspberryPi.
On the PCF8591, there are no external parts needed, just connect the unused inputs to ground. Programming it is done by sending two bytes, one to enable the output (01000000 (the other bits are for controlling the inputs)) and one to control the output voltage.

The lube is a little bit too thick, though. But water with a little bit of it for the taste works great!
