Finding this on Y**T***, I am intrigued how it is done. I didn't think you could alter the pulse of a quartz clock.
He also has a shocker linked to a strain gauge!

Re: Slowing down a quartz clock: How is it possible?
Welcome.
If I should do it, I would let an Arduino deliver the pulses to the clockwork instead of the quartz crystal.
It would probably be a bit less precise than the original clockwork, but it would work.
One pulse a second in normal mode, fewer pulses once the button has been pushed.

First off, it is not a Quartz clock.
It is a mechanical clock...
Second, I have no idea how that is done...
Besides an Arduino to drive the clock, A simple graphics program to display a clock on the CP screen could do the same thing.
(Want one?, I could make one. the clock face would be the full screen...)

All advice is checked, re-checked and verified to be questionable...
Don't ask, we both wont understand the answer...

Third.... You are mistaken.
It is this clock or something awfully close to it.

And it says in the description
It looks like a classic mechanical clock, but it is much cheaper to put an electrical clockwork in it.

I know, to RTFM is kind of cheating.Add a dash of classic charm and British design to your home with the Jones and Co cream alarm clock. Traditionally styled, this alarm clock is both practical and great to look at. With a working bell alarm and a high quality Quartz movement this alarm clock will ensure you're always up in time. Requires 1 x AA battery (100-4179).

I'm so in touch with my feminine side today!
"I told you so!"
A bit of googling while performing the morning meditation on the porcelain throne gave me this:

And this:

.... If you can imagine it, some nerd has probably done it, and put it online.

Re: Slowing down a quartz clock: How is it possible?
my immediate reaction to the OP post was "put a microprocessor inside the clock", as I expected the clock to be based on an electronic controller driving an electromagnet, not a clockwork device at all
in my case I would use one of the many PIC processors, as I use these a lot of the time in my commercial design work - one PIC and three or four components will do this job very cheaply.
but a really neat idea for predicament bondage !

Re: Slowing down a quartz clock: How is it possible?
For even more fun, add a randomness to it with an irregular time between ticks. Or even skipping ticks alltogether. Like described about lord Vetinari in the Discworld books. See also for example: https://hackaday.com/2011/10/06/vetinar ... ou-insane/
How may I serve you? *Curtsey*
