Universal electronic timer

Postby G4K-DK » 08 Mar 2010, 15:55

Not sure if you can say that this is cheap, but it surely is useful!

I got a timer from Velleman (http://www.velleman.eu/distributor/prod ... ?id=369866), and is going to put it into a nice box, with remotely start and stop.

My idea:
I want something universal, something that i can just plug in between stuff i already got.
This could be my 12V electro magnet, where it can be driven by a simple 12V power supply, and then just with the timer between the power supply and the magnet, by using the same kind of connectors.

Pricelist: (prices are approximately, and with Danish vat.)
  • Velleman VM141: 35USD
  • Connectors: 6USD
  • Housing: 4.5USD
  • Remote case: 2.5USD

Later I will also modify my safe, so I can show how it can be done.

A little overview over what i got to work with.

Got most of it made, stil need to connect the remote start/stop and to get another pot. that i can mount in the lid.

Timer + box complete
Connectors mounted on the output and input, so the entire project is pretty close to being complete.

83 views, 0 replies, anyone interested in this at all? If not, I won't waste time on updating and explaining.

Most people probably view the post, if for no other reason than to clear the marker that says there are unread posts. Every time there is a reply, or another post, the same people need to view again, to clear the marker, or because they are interested. That makes the number of views go up.

In the case of this post, you haven't asked any real questions, just posted a description of something you are in the process of building. Lack of replies does not necessarily mean lack of interest, but so far there is nothing to really comment on. It's just another timer from your description. I don't have any real interest in something like this, so I haven't spent a great deal of time examining it. What makes it better than a digital timer I can get at Walmart for less than $10? Basically you have a timer controlling a relay, which you will connect to a power supply and a device to be controlled.

Most likely, when you have the final product, and post all the real details, you will get some responses.
I know one thing - Indecision may or may not be my problem ---- I think, maybe

I've been following your post, and did have some interest, but really didn't find anything to reply to.
Many of our viewers are 'Lurkers', who aren't registered, and thus can't leave a post or a comment.
In the fictional story section I've posten numerous stories, and have had well over a hundred views, sometimes with no comments at all, and often with the only comment from my faithful fan, Jenny. I eventually gave up on that idea,

Sorry that I did not post a reply very often on your stories, I enjoyed them immensely, I just have a hard time explaining, or expressing my feelings in writing.

Please post some more and I will try to encourage you with a response.

That wasn't meant to envoke feelings of guilt, or other confessions, it was just an off hand comment.
To be a little more honest, there were other reasons as well. Chance in work situation, with assosciated lack of free time to write, and more recently, lack of story ideas. I do have a holiday coming up, so maybe I'll get back to it then.
Thanks for your comments though. :hi:
