Making love in an MRI-scanner
No, I did not do it personally, but it is a very interesting read with elements of voyeurism, exhibitionism, confinement and a bit of medical fetish:

A small movie about it: http://youtu.be/TUFWq_V86Ug
(Including simulated coitus in a compost barrel.... there must be a name for that!)

Re: Making love in an MRI-scanner
That sounds like a made-up job title... Perfect for getting grants to do kinky things with medical equipment.organizational anthropologist
But she does seem to have a magnetic personality.
Jenny.
PS: This thread could be relocated to Funny Things. It's weird enough. Even weirder than giant rubber ducks made by Ponylady.

I thought about it, but ending up putting it here.bound_jenny wrote: PS: This thread could be relocated to Funny Things. It's weird enough. Even weirder than giant rubber ducks made by Ponylady.
It is a very real story after all.
(And I find it weirdly erotic)

Re: Making love in an MRI-scanner
People certainly do strange things, and if you have access to the equipment... Who knows?
Where I work the MRI equipment sits idle much of the time, especially all weekend, so the opportunity could exist.
On the other hand, MRI equipment is very expensive, and is thus watched very closely. Before you even enter the room you are scanned for any metal objects, perhaps more thoroughly than an airport TSA search. The tests themselves cost thousands of dollars, and require a specially trained radiologist to operate. When in operation the equipment is quite noisy and very loud. The scans also take a lot of time, like in this case approaching an hour, perhaps more. and the patient needs to hold perfectly still for a useful image to be produced. While I have not experienced one personally, I have been told that receiving one is not always a pleasant experience.
I'm guessing this story originates in someones fantasy.
A Cat-scan would be more practical, but the radiation hazard might make it prohibitive.

There's a fine line between cuddling and holding someone down so they can't get away.

Re: Making love in an MRI-scanner
I quite agree, that MRI-porn probably doesn't have much of a future.
Regarding that this should be a fantasy story:
It was done, and it was published in a peer reviewed scientific journal. It won't get better than that, when it comes to documentation.
I think scientific apparatus is used for a lot of other things than "its main purpose". Scientists are curious by nature, and students, especially Ph. D. students, are curious, respect-less, frequently intoxicated and perpetually horny.
If you have the idea and the means to test it, it is more likely than not, that it will be done.

It would still be safer than flouroscopy and the possibility of those annoying X-ray radiation burns.Sir Cumference wrote:I quite agree, that MRI-porn probably doesn't have much of a future.
Re: Making love in an MRI-scanner
it's been done before, in the name of science of course.
result was some amazing images about the degree the male procreation organ is bent while trying to deliver his "smartbombs" as close as possible to the intented target without
collateral damages.
if this sounds like US military jargon, guess who financed the study.

Someone with a made-up job title + Someone with money to waste = Wacky and often useless study of something.
On the bright side, once in a while, it's really pervy.
Even better, it's not the Navy commissioning a study to find out why water freezes.
Jenny.

Be careful about saying that!bound_jenny wrote: Even better, it's not the Navy commissioning a study to find out why water freezes.

The polymorphism of ice is a very interesting subject (if you are scientifically so inclined) and if you can find the finer mechanics of freezing, a lot of money could be saved by reducing icing on ships and airplanes.
And the environmental benefits from anti-icing rather than de-icing could be substantial too!
(And no, my wage is not paid by navy research for the time being )

Uh-oh... we mentioned ice... Hark! The Ponylady cometh!
And about 20-30 years ago the US Navy did commission a $50000 study on why water freezes. The conclusion: because it gets cold.
